“The academic calendar for Colleges of Education in Ghana for the 2023/2024 academic year has been released. Notable dates include the commencement of macro teaching for B.Ed Level 400 students on January 10, 2024, and the start of the first semester for Level 100, 200, and 300 students on January 15, 2024. The calendar introduces a new IN-IN-IN-OUT Residential Policy for Levels 100 to 300, with Level 400 students living off-campus for the second semester.”
The National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) in Ghana has unveiled the academic calendar for the 2023/2024 academic year. The calendar includes important dates and introduces a new residential policy.
According to the calendar:
- January 10, 2024: B.Ed Level 400 students will report to campus for orientation for their macro teaching.
- January 14, 2024: B.Ed Level 400 students will begin their macro teaching at their respective schools of attachment.
- January 15, 2024: B.Ed Level 100 (freshers), 200, and 300 students will report to campus for the first semester, which will last for 14 weeks with no phases.
- April 8–April 19, 2024: Level 100, 200, and 300 students will sit for their end-of-first semester examinations.
- April 21–May 31, 2024: Break to end the first semester.
- June 2, 2024: The second semester for all levels (100-400) will commence and span 14 weeks. Level 400 students will be required to live off-campus and attend lectures.
- August 26 – September 6, 2024: End-of-second semester examinations for all levels.
- September 7, 2024: Conclusion of the academic year.
The academic year is scheduled to conclude on September 7, 2024, with the 2024/2025 academic year set to begin on October 7, 2024, returning colleges of education to their usual calendar.
