The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) and other key stakeholders, has announced a streamlined format for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Under the new arrangement, candidates will be required to write only five subjects, simplifying the examination process. The subjects include:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Science
- Ghanaian Language
- General Paper
The General Paper will cover a range of topics, including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Social Studies, Religious and Moral Education (RME), among others.
This strategic adjustment aims to assess candidates’ comprehensive knowledge across diverse areas while maintaining a more focused examination structure.
The decision to streamline the subjects for the 2024 BECE is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the examination system, provide a fair assessment of students’ capabilities, and align with the broader educational objectives set by NaCCA and the GES.
Stakeholders, including students, parents, and educators, are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the updated format to ensure a smooth preparation process for the upcoming BECE. The collaboration between the GES, NaCCA, and other stakeholders underscores a commitment to continuous improvement in the education sector in Ghana.
