During the 27th General Assembly of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG), the President of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG), Prince Oben-Himah, discussed the issues facing Ghana’s Colleges of Education.
He highlighted the need for investment in academic resources, including lecture halls, electronic library facilities, and other learning materials.
He suggested that private organizations could provide hostel facilities for trainees, while the government prioritizes improving academic infrastructure.
The Challenges Faced by Ghana’s Colleges of Education
Ghana’s Colleges of Education are facing a range of infrastructure challenges, including a shortage of classrooms, libraries, and learning materials. These challenges make it difficult for these colleges to deliver quality education to students.

During the TTAG Assembly, Prince Oben-Himah firmly stated that the government should shift its focus away from constructing student halls and instead prioritize improving lecture halls, electronic library facilities, and other academic resources.
He proposed collaborating with private organizations, such as SSNIT, to establish hostel facilities for trainees. This innovative solution aims to address the pressing infrastructure challenges faced by colleges of education across the nation.
