President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has initiated a transformative era for the National Service Scheme (NSS) with the launch of its 2024–2034 policy, aimed at reshaping operations and empowering graduates over the next decade.
Innovation
President Akufo-Addo highlighted the theme “Innovative Deployment: Developing Prospects for the Future,” emphasizing the need for a forward-looking approach to the NSS’s activities.
The policy marks a pivotal departure from past practices, aiming to elevate the NSS into a world-class institution. It not only focuses on mobilizing and deploying graduates but also equipping them for success in their respective fields.
Stakeholder Involvement
The President urged various stakeholders, including the government, international partners, and universities, to embrace the policy wholeheartedly. He assured them of unwavering government support, noting the significance of clear guidelines provided by the new policy document.
Commitment
Aligning with the government’s agenda, President Akufo-Addo reiterated his commitment to adequately prepare service personnel for the transition from school to the workforce.
He emphasized the importance of initiatives such as Free SHS and Free TVET programmes in providing opportunities for youth development.
Structures
President Akufo-Addo stressed that the policy document would enhance capacities, reinforce structures, and enable the NSS to mobilize and deploy a growing number of graduates to areas of national priority.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing opportunities for the youth to realize their dreams.

The Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, commended the President for the unprecedented improvement in the educational sector.
He thanked the Executive Director of NSS for his efforts in shaping the scheme and working towards the policy launch.
Executive Director Osei Assibey Antwi emphasized stakeholders’ crucial role in ensuring the policy’s success, highlighting the need for a structured framework to streamline operations.
