A female student of Nkwatia Presby Senior High School has been assaulted by her Assistant Headmaster in charge of academics for allegedly going to town without exeat. The student, who has not been named, was slapped and beaten like a thief, despite the fact that she had a valid exeat.

The assault took place on August 24, 2023. The student was on her way home from town when she was stopped by the Assistant Headmaster. He accused her of going to town without permission and then assaulted her. The student sustained injuries to her face and eye, and she is now receiving treatment at home.

Expressing concerns over the handling of the situation, many are pointing fingers at the school authorities, accusing them of attempting to conceal the incident. As public sentiment swells, the victim is presently receiving medical treatment at home, with one eye reportedly in critical condition.

Despite the severity of the assault, allegations have emerged that the school’s response fell far short of expectations. The victim allegedly received minimal medical attention, with only Paracetamol provided to alleviate her pain.

The school authorities are trying to cover up the incident. They have refused to provide the student with medical attention, and they have also refused to cooperate with the police. The Ghana Police Service in Nkwatia has also been slow to act, and the culprit has not yet been arrested.

Adding to the controversy, the Ghana Police Service’s response has also raised eyebrows. Criticism is mounting against local law enforcement in Nkwatia for purportedly failing to take immediate action to apprehend the accused Assistant Headmaster.
