Ferdinand | EducationGhana | October 21 |UEW Organizes Workshop on Grant Sourcing and Writing for Senior Faculty Members
The Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Development (DRID) at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has taken a significant step in enhancing the capacity of the senior members of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Education by organizing a one-day workshop on Grant Sourcing and Proposal Writing.
The workshop, held on the 9th of October, 2023, in Room SLT 7 at the South Campus Language Block, brought together teaching and non-teaching senior members of the faculty.
In her opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Education, Prof. (Mrs.) Rebecca Akpanglo-Nartey, expressed her gratitude to the DRID team for their continuous efforts in organising workshops on grantsmanship for faculty members. She emphasised the potential benefits of the workshop, expressing hope that participants would gain valuable insights from the topics covered.
Prof (Mrs.) Esther Danso-Wiredu, the Director of DRID, highlighted the purpose of the workshop, stating that successful grant proposal writing could open doors for staff, leading to promotions, professional development, and international networking opportunities.
The workshop featured presentations from experts in the field, including Mr. Michael Amo Asiedu, Dr. Raphael Atanga, Dr. Philip Siaw Kissi, and Mr. Constant K. Ahiakpo, who covered topics such as the History of DRID, Grant Proposal Writing, Grants Sourcing, and Budget Preparation.
Dr. Atanga shared his experiences and lessons learned from both successful and unsuccessful proposals, emphasising that perseverance and learning from failures were keys to success in grant writing. Participants also gained insights into online grant search platforms during the workshop.
The faculty members expressed their satisfaction and gratitude for the insightful workshop on Grant Sourcing and Proposal Writing. They commended the Directorate of Research, Innovation, and Development for their commitment to enhancing the skills and capabilities of their members.
This workshop marks a significant stride in empowering UEW faculty to actively engage in grant writing, fostering professional growth, and expanding their impact in the field of education.
