Ferdinand | EducationGhana | November 7 | Ghanaian Teacher wins 2023 Global Education Supplies and Solution Award in Dubai
A former student of the College of Distance Education (CoDE) of the University of Cape Coast, Reverend Sister Jasinta Kwakyewaa Osei (HDR) has been adjudged the overall winner of this year’s Global Education Supplies and Solution Award (GESS).
Reverend Sister Jasinta Kwakyewaa Osei who is also a teacher at St. Francis Senior High School at Akyim Swedru in the Eastern region of Ghana, was shortlisted for the “Community Award for Citizenship” (community impact) but ended up becoming the overall winner of this year’s GESS awards.
The Global Education Supplies and Solution Award (GESS) is organized annually to honour outstanding teachers and suppliers of education globally.
This year’s edition is the 16th celebration held at the H-Hotel in Dubai on October 31, 2023.
The awards highlight and reward the quality and diversity of educational products, resources, services, and people, as well as the best educational establishments and the most dedicated members of the teaching profession.
This year, over 900 nominations from 60 different countries were received constituting award suppliers from 15 different categories and outstanding teachers from 9 categories.
In an interview with ATL FM, Rev. Sis. Jacinta, overwhelmed by the community award, expressed that she was surprised by the recognition given to her.
“I never dreamt of receiving the ultimate prize. When my category was mentioned and given to my colleague from an international community school in Singapore, I felt it was over, not knowing the ultimate prize had been reserved for me. This is the work of God, and it’s wonderful in my eyes.
She explained that her charitable and educational projects, influencing many lives, including orphans and girl child education, and caring for the sick and needy, among other benevolent acts, earned her the prestigious award.
Her works included donations, free health screenings, seminars, and vocational training for the aforementioned benefactors of her acts.
‘I am so involved in community work, she admitted.
Driven by passion and her background while growing up, Rev. Jacinta revealed that her joy is to see the needy happy.
Rev. Sis. Jasinta described the teaching profession as a noble profession that she will consider doing over again.
She, therefore, admonished teachers to give their best while going beyond the classroom setting to impact the larger community through their profession.
Having taught for 22 years as a professional teacher, Rev. Sister Jasinta Kwakyewaa Osei has received various awards for her hard work.
She was adjudged the 2nd Regional Best Teacher (Eastern) in Basic Education in 2013 and the 2nd National Best Teacher (Vocational Category) in 2015.
She is a proud member of the UCC alumni, obtained her diploma, degree, and Master’s at CoDE-UCC, and has currently applied for an MPhil at UCC.
