Ferdinand | EducationGhana |July 24| Allowances of National Service Personnel Increased to GH¢715.57
The government of Ghana has approved an upward adjustment of monthly allowances for National Service Personnel (NSP), as stated in an official letter signed by Ambrose Entsiwah Jnr., Acting Director, Corporate Affairs, dated 23rd July 2023.
The National Service Scheme has obtained the government’s approval for this increment, with the new monthly allowance set at GH¢715.57 for NSP.
The implementation of this new allowance began in January 2023, and although arrears are owed, the Scheme has assured that they will be paid.
Previously, the NSP allowance was GH¢559.04 and was initiated in January 2017.
On the 18th of July 2023, the approval letter, signed by Hon. Abena Osei-Asare (MP), Deputy Minister for Finance, was received. This followed a series of discussions involving the National Service Scheme, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and the Ministry of Finance.
The letter also directed the Controller and Accountant-General to enforce the new personnel allowance levels.
As a result, all currently serving National Service Personnel are entitled to arrears for the adjusted difference starting from January 2023, which will be duly paid.
The Management urges all NSPs to exercise patience as the necessary administrative processes for settling the arrears are being concluded.
