French BECE Examination Format Unveiled: Key Insights for Candidates!

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has disclosed the structure of the 2024 French BECE examination, offering crucial details for candidates. Here’s what you need to know:

Overview

  • The French BECE examination comprises three papers: Paper 1 (Oral and Written Comprehension tests), Paper 2 (Written Expression tests), and Paper 3 (Oral Expression/Conversation tests).
  • However, due to existing logistic constraints, Paper 3, focusing on oral conversation, may be temporarily suspended.

Paper 1 – Objective Test

  • This paper involves 40 multiple-choice objective questions covering both listening comprehension and written comprehension.
  • Candidates are required to answer all questions within one hour, with each question carrying one mark, summing up to a total of 40 marks.

Logistic Considerations

  • The Oral expression and conversation tests (Paper 3) are currently on hold due to logistical constraints.
  • WAEC will administer Paper 3 once the necessary logistics are in place, ensuring fairness and consistency in examination administration.

Advice for Teachers and Candidates

  • Teachers are encouraged to allocate equal attention to the oral expression/conversation aspect of the syllabus, preparing students comprehensively for all sections of the French BECE examination.

Conclusion

As candidates prepare for the French BECE examination, it’s essential to be aware of the structure and format outlined by WAEC. Stay updated on any developments regarding the administration of Paper 3, and focus on thorough preparation across all examination components. Wishing all candidates success in their examinations.
