The investigation is ongoing, and the withheld results may be released or cancelled based on the outcome.”

Accra, Ghana, – The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has taken a significant step by withholding subject results for candidates from 235 schools following suspicions of collusion and using artificial intelligence (AI)-generated answers. According to the examination irregularities report, the decision to withhold the results is pending the outcome of ongoing investigations into the suspected collusion and the use of AI-generated answers. WAEC has not yet disclosed specific details about the nature and extent of the alleged irregularities.

The investigation aims to determine the validity of the concerns raised and assess the involvement of candidates from the affected schools. Depending on the outcome of the investigations, the withheld results may be either released or cancelled.

WAEC emphasized its commitment to upholding the integrity of the examination process and ensuring that examination results accurately reflect the candidates’ efforts and knowledge. The examination body has a history of taking decisive actions against irregularities to maintain the credibility of its assessments.
