School of Business Honors Top-Performing Students at Dean’s Award Ceremony
Celebrating Academic Excellence
The School of Business at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) recently held its annual Dean’s Award ceremony to honor students who achieved exceptional academic performance.
The ceremony recognized first-class students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.6 and above across levels 200 to 400.
Acknowledging Outstanding Achievements
A total of 302 students were honoured for their hard work and dedication, including 126 level 200 students, 68 level 300 students, and 108 level 400 students.
Notably, for the first time, three postgraduate students at level 850 with the highest CGPA were also recognized for their academic accomplishments.
Inspiring Words from the Guest Speaker
Mr. Joshua Mortoti, the Executive Vice President and Head of Goldfields West Africa, delivered an inspiring speech to the students.
He emphasized the importance of discipline in achieving academic success and encouraged students to develop essential soft skills such as communication and teamwork.
Importance of Soft Skills
Mr. Mortoti highlighted the significance of acquiring soft skills alongside academic qualifications, noting that they provide a competitive edge in the job market.
He emphasized the need for students to cultivate humility and adaptability, essential traits for navigating the complexities of professional life.
School’s Commitment to Student Development
Prof. John Gatsi, the Dean of the School of Business-UCC, reiterated the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded and employable graduates.
He announced plans to target high school students from underserved areas for enrollment in business programs and to increase postgraduate enrollment in the school.
Support from Professional Bodies
Several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Chartered Institute of Accountants Ghana (CIAG), and the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), showed support for the awards by offering sponsorship packages.
The Dean’s Award ceremony at the School of Business-UCC is a testament to the institution’s dedication to academic excellence and student development. By recognizing outstanding achievements and promoting the acquisition of essential skills, the school continues to prepare students for success in their future endeavors.
