The University of Ghana has opened applications for the Government of Ghana’s No-Academic-Fee Policy for first-year undergraduate Ghanaian students, including diploma and diploma-to-degree entrants.


The University of Ghana (UG) has announced the opening of applications for the Government of Ghana’s No-Academic-Fee Policy for first-year undergraduate Ghanaian students, covering Diploma, Diploma-to-Degree, and Level 100 programmes.

The notice applies to students admitted for the current academic year and is aimed at easing the financial burden associated with non-academic charges at the tertiary level.


Who Is Eligible

According to the notice, the policy is open to:

  • First-year Ghanaian undergraduate students
  • Diploma, Diploma-to-Degree, and Level 100 entrants
  • Students who complete the required application process accurately and on time


Application Procedure

To be considered for the policy, eligible students are required to complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to the UG STS Portal using their Student ID and PIN.
  2. Enter or validate their Ghana Card Number in the designated section.
  3. Visit the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) portal and click on the “Apply for No-Fees-Stress” option to complete the application process.

Important Advisory to Students

The University cautioned that failure to provide accurate and timely information may affect a student’s eligibility for the policy. Students were therefore advised to carefully follow all instructions and verify their details before submission.

Additionally, students who do not wish to have their personal data shared with the Students Loan Trust Fund have been advised not to participate in the application exercise.
