Kumasi, Ghana– Teachers in the Ashanti Region of Ghana have raised accusations against the Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES) regarding the alleged improper reposting of teachers without due diligence.

Narrating their ordeal to Education Ghana’s ellis the teachers argued that most of them were being posted by the headquarters after their study leave to teach in the Ashanti Region.

According to the teachers, even though they were being posted to teach at the Public Senior High Schools by the headquarters, the regional director reposted them to Basic schools without prior notice.

The educators claim that the reposting by the regional director deviates from the initial postings made by the GES headquarters, causing confusion and challenges for the affected teachers.

Reposting After Study Leave

The teachers allege that after completing study leave, they were initially posted by the GES headquarters to teach in Public Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region. However, the regional director subsequently reposted them to basic schools without prior notice or consultation.

Vacancy Availability Discrepancy

The teachers argue that the reposting by the regional director contradicts the vacancies declared by the region to the GES headquarters. The initial postings were aligned with the announced vacancies in Public Senior High Schools, while the reposting placed them in basic schools.

Curriculum Challenges

The affected Teachers express concerns about teaching at basic schools, citing challenges related to the lack of prior knowledge about the standard-based curriculum implemented at that level. Some educators also highlight potential difficulties in teaching at Junior High Schools without awareness of the new Common Core Programme Curriculum.

Questioning the Reposting Decision

The Teachers question the rationale behind the reposting by the regional director, especially when the GES headquarters had already made postings based on declared vacancies. The lack of communication and justification for the reposting adds to the teachers’ grievances.

Evidence-Based Claims

The teachers provide evidence in the form of original appointment letters issued by the GES headquarters and reposting letters to support their claims of improper reposting by the regional director.

Way Forward

The allegations raised by teachers in the Ashanti Region highlight concerns over the reposting process conducted by the Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service.

The discrepancies between the initial postings from the GES headquarters and the subsequent reposting by the regional director have created confusion among teachers, who are seeking clarity and proper communication regarding their placements.
