Ayikuma Methodist JHS has won the 2023 National Core Subjects Quiz Competition. This is the second time the school has won the competition, having also won in 2022.

The competition was between the Ayikuma Methodist Basic School, Rising Star Montessori School and the Ekis Montessori School at exactly 10:00 am.

The competition was held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the studios of TV Africa in Accra. Ayikuma Methodist JHS defeated He Cares Academy in the final round to claim the title.

Points Gained

After the First round of the competition, Ayikuma Methodist Basic School had 13 points against Rising Star Monterpri School’s 10 points and the Ekis Montessori School’s 7 points respectively.

The second round saw Ayikuma Methodist Basic School gaining 9 points as against Rising Star Montessori School’s 9 points and the Ekis Montessori School’s 12 points.

Round 3 saw Ayikuma Methodist Basic School obtaining 12 points, Rising Star Montessori School gained 11 points whilst Ekis Montessori School had 4 points.

The final round of the competition saw Ayikuma Methodist Basic School gaining 11 points, Rising Star Monterpri School also gaining 11 points whilst Ekis Montessori School had 17 points.

Aim of the Competition

The competition aims to promote academic excellence in core subjects among Junior High Schools (JHSs) in Ghana. The competition covers the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Integrated Science.

About the National Core Subjects Quiz

The National Core Subjects Quiz is an annual quiz competition for Junior High Schools in Ghana.

The quiz tests students’ knowledge of English Language, Integrated Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies.

The quiz is organized by the Verbal Transformers Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes education in Ghana.

The Defending Champions, Ayikuma Methodist Basic Schol were with high expectations to win it again to compete with Dayspring Montessori International School who have won back-to-back since the inception of the National Core Subjects Quiz

Ayikuma Methodist Basic School was the defending champion of the National Core Subjects Quiz, and won it again this year. They have a strong team of students who are very knowledgeable in the core subjects, and they have been training hard for the competition.
