SHS placement results are out, but the self-placement module is pending for students who were not automatically placed. Find out what this means and how to proceed.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the 2024 Senior High School (SHS) placement results, but some students may notice an update message stating “self-placement will be enabled soon.” This message indicates that self-placement is still in preparation, due to the government’s priority on releasing placements early to meet high demand.

This update affects students who were not automatically placed in any of their selected schools. If your child’s placement status shows “self-placement will be enabled soon,” it means they were not assigned to any of their original school choices. This notification will be replaced by the self-placement option once the module is activated, allowing students to choose a school with remaining spaces.

What Parents and Students Should Know

  1. Wait for Self-Placement Activation
Students in this category should stay patient while waiting for the self-placement module to go live. When enabled, the module will allow them to select from available schools with open spots.
  2. Options in Self-Placement
Through self-placement, students can select their preferred region, residential preference (Day or Boarding), specific school, and chosen program. This helps match students with schools that align with their academic and residential preferences.
  3. Steps to Complete Self-Placement
    After the module is active:

    • Visit the CSSPS portal and enter your ten-digit index number followed by “24” for the year of completion.
    • Click “Proceed” to access the self-placement options.
    • Choose the preferred region, school, program, and residential status, then confirm the selection.
    • Flexibility in Choices Until Enrollment
Candidates can change their selected school and program on the self-placement portal multiple times until they finalize enrollment in one school. This flexibility allows students to reconsider their choices until they find the best fit.

Conclusion

The self-placement module will soon be available for students who missed out on automatic placement. With a variety of school options and the ability to adjust choices before enrollment, this module offers a way to find an alternative school that aligns with students’ preferences. Keep checking the CSSPS portal for updates on self-placement activation, and once live, follow the steps to secure a placement for the 2024 academic year.
