Ferdinand | EducationGhana |August 17|GES Begins the Issuance of Text Messages to Qualified 2023 Promotion Exam Candidates
In a decisive move towards transparency and improved evaluation, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has commenced the distribution of SMS text messages to candidates who have triumphed in the 2023 promotion examination.
This development follows prior concerns raised about the quality of questions presented during the Aptitude Test.
Commending the GES for its proactive approach, these sentiments were echoed by stakeholders including Ellis Ferdinand who had earlier expressed concerns over the standards of the examination questions.
The GES has shown commitment to addressing these concerns by meticulously reviewing the alleged anomalies to forestall widespread failure.
While there might be reservations regarding the pass rate due to these irregularities, the majority of candidates have successfully met the requirements, and the identified errors have been diligently rectified.
This approach aims to not only ensure fairness and accuracy but also to maintain the integrity of the promotion process.
Forward Steps and Recommendations
”Looking ahead, it is imperative that the GES acknowledges the necessity of meticulously scrutinizing each question to enhance the credibility of the examination system. This critical step is anticipated to cleanse the process and ensure that the most suitable individuals are entrusted with conducting the test.” Ellis Ferdinand said
”Further analysis indicates that the relatively lower pass rate for Deputy Director Candidates could potentially be attributed to a particular type of question. The 15 questions that demand candidates to “FILL IN SPACES” without offering potential answers might have influenced the outcome. This unconventional question style is speculated to be the underlying factor contributing to the lower success rate.” He concluded
Notification Distribution Commences
The distribution of SMS text messages to eligible candidates commenced promptly at 4:00 PM today, August 17, 2023.
This serves as an official notification to candidates who have achieved the qualifying threshold, marking a significant step in their professional advancement.
Background and Noteworthy Achievements
The promotion test, designed to elevate teachers across different teaching grades, has achieved commendable success, boasting an overall pass rate of 69%. Among the total number of candidates who participated, a notable 55,917 individuals met the requisite criteria for promotion.
The promotion examination encompassed multiple teaching grades, including Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent. The detailed breakdown of results for each category is as follows:
- Deputy Director Grade:Â Out of 8,565 participants, a substantial 54% successfully secured passage, totaling 4,655 candidates.
- Assistant Director I Grade:Â An impressive 85% triumphed among the 25,556 candidates who undertook the examination, with 21,749 individuals emerging victorious.
- Assistant Director II Grade:Â Within the 40,020 contenders for the Assistant Director II grade, 61% successfully navigated the test, resulting in 24,581 triumphant candidates.
- Principal Superintendent Grade:Â A significant achievement was witnessed among the 6,668 participants vying for the Principal Superintendent grade, with 74% proving their mettle, translating to 4,932 successful candidates.
The GES extends hearty congratulations to all candidates who have fulfilled the requirements and passed the 2023 promotion examination, thereby securing new opportunities for professional growth and development.
