The Ghana Education Service (GES) has recently announced the initiation of the 2024–2025 inter-regional and inter- and intra-district transfers and postings.

This move is aimed at facilitating staff mobility and ensuring efficient deployment across educational institutions in Ghana.

In this blog post, we will provide key details regarding the process and outline the necessary steps for staff members seeking reposting.

    Issuance of Assurance Letters

The issuance of assurance letters is the first step in the transfer/reposting process. Staff members need to be aware of the start date and deadline for this stage.

The start date for issuing assurance letters is Monday, May May 2024, and the deadline for submission is Wednesday, 19th June 2024. Staff members must submit their applications within this timeframe to be considered for the transfer/reposting process.

    Processing of Inter-Regional Reposting Applications

For staff members seeking inter-regional reposting, there is a specific processing date to keep in mind.

The start date for processing inter-regional reposting applications is Monday, 1st July, 2024. It is important to note that the effective date for these repostings will be the beginning of the next academic year, which is September 2024.

Staff members must ensure that their completed applications are submitted by the deadline, which is Wednesday, 31st July, 2024. All applications must be forwarded to the GES headquarters by this date, as any documents received after the deadline will not be accepted.

Important Notice for Staff Seeking Reposting

Staff members seeking reposting must be aware of an important notice regarding the process. It is crucial to note that staff members can only be released for reposting after the Director-General of the GES has approved and issued a reposting letter to the applicant. This ensures that the reposting process is managed effectively and in accordance with the guidelines set by the GES.

Process of Inter-District Reposting for the 2024-2025 Academic Year

For staff members seeking inter-district reposting, the following steps must be followed:

    1. Applicant seeks assurance of vacancy from a preferred metro/municipal/district within the region.
    2. After securing the assurance letter, the applicant applies for release from the current metro/municipal/district by attaching necessary documents.

    3. The metro/municipal/district director recommends the applicant’s release to the regional director, who gives final approval.

    4. The current metro/municipal/district director and head of basic/shs are informed after the final approval.

Process of Inter-Regional Reposting for the 2024–2025 Academic Year

For staff members seeking inter-regional reposting, the following steps must be followed:

    1. Applicant seeks assurance from their region of choice through metro/municipal/district directors.
    2. After securing the assurance letter, the applicant applies for release from the current metro/municipal/district education office.

    3. The metro/municipal/district director forwards the applicant’s documents to the regional education office, and then to the Director-General for final approval.

    4. The regional director issues a release letter to complete the reposting process after the Director-General’s approval.

Process of Intra-District Reposting for the 2024–2025 Academic Year

For staff members seeking intra-district reposting, the following steps must be followed:

    1. Applicant writes to the metro/municipal/district director indicating their willingness to move to another school within the metro/municipal/district.
    2. The metro/municipal/district director gives final approval upon meeting all requirements.

    Adherence to Timelines and Procedures

The GES encourages all staff members involved in the transfer/reposting process to adhere to the stipulated timelines and procedures.

This will ensure a smooth transition and efficient deployment of staff across educational institutions in Ghana.

Staff members need to familiarize themselves with the guidelines provided by the GES to ensure a successful transfer/reposting.

For further inquiries and more information, we encourage you to visit the official GES website at ges.gov.gh or contact [email protected].

The GES is committed to providing support and guidance throughout the transfer/reposting process and is available to address any concerns or queries you may have.
