Accra, Ghana In a recent interview with Thisterm.com, an official from the Ghana Education Service (GES) clarified that this year’s BECE graduates, currently undergoing the school placement process, have the option to transfer schools after completing one academic year.

Responding to inquiries about the possibility of Junior High School students changing schools after enrollment and admission into their placed schools, the GES official stated that such changes are not feasible at the moment.

However, he emphasized that first-year students can consider school transfers after completing one academic year, describing this process as a school transfer.

“So, for now, you cannot change your school; you can only do that after an academic year. Any movement from one school to another after school placement enrollment is considered a transfer,” the official clarified.

The GES recently released school placements, indicating that out of 598,839 results received from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), 81.56% of prospective students were automatically placed in one of their choices. The remaining 18.44% are encouraged to perform self-placement to select from available schools.

How to buy a School Placement Card

For those seeking to buy school placement cards, the process involves visiting the Checker Cards website, selecting the desired number of cards, providing necessary details, and completing the payment through Mobile Money.

To check school placement, individuals can visit the CSSPS portal, enter their index number, E-voucher pin, and PIN code. For self-placement, the process includes visiting the CSSPS portal, selecting the check placement module, entering the BECE index number, E-voucher pin, and PIN code, and proceeding to the self-placement module to make selections based on academic performance and preferences.

The GES official assures stakeholders that the organization exercises high due diligence in the recruitment and retention of staff, emphasizing the integrity of the academic community. As the school placement process continues, the GES encourages students and parents to follow the provided guidelines for a smooth and informed transition.
