“Management of the University of Cape Coast refutes malicious claims by Modern Ghana and Phoenix against Prof. George K.T. Oduro. The university states that there are no records of Prof. Oduro being cited in matters of plagiarism or rape, and he obtained his PhD from Cambridge, not UCC. The public is urged to disregard the false publications and consider them acts of sheer mischief.”
UCC, Cape Coast: The management of the University of Cape Coast has issued a statement denouncing false and malicious publications made by Modern Ghana and Phoenix online portals against Prof. George K.T. Oduro, a former Pro Vice-Chancellor and esteemed academician at the university.
In the statement, management categorically refutes the allegations made by Mr John Boateng, published on the mentioned online platforms. The reports insinuated that Prof. Oduro obtained his PhD from the University of Cape Coast through subterfuge and that his work was discredited for plagiarism, along with an accusation of rape.
The university asserts that Prof. Oduro did not receive his PhD from the University of Cape Coast but obtained it from Cambridge during the period 1999–2003. Additionally, the University of Cape Coast has no records of Prof. Oduro being cited in matters of plagiarism or rape.
The public is strongly urged to disregard these false publications, which are described as deliberate, wicked, and an act of sheer mischief. The statement emphasizes that Prof. Oduro, during his 30 years of association with the university as a student and lecturer, rose to the rank of professor, discharging his duties with utmost professionalism and without any blemish.
The university reassures its stakeholders that it exercises the highest due diligence in the recruitment and retention of its staff, and Prof. Oduro is no exception. The Management of the University of Cape Coast stands by the integrity of its academic community and urges the public to treat the false allegations with utter contempt.
