The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has reduced the minimum fee payment for course registration to 40%, easing financial pressure on students.
UEW Lowers Initial Fee Payment to 40% for Course Registration
In a recent effort to alleviate the financial strain on students, the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has officially lowered the minimum school fee payment required for course registration from 50% to 40%.
This announcement was made by the UEW Student Representative Council (SRC) in a statement released on February 25, 2025, and signed by General Secretary Lilian Adzo Tofa.
Supporting Students Amid Economic Challenges
The SRC noted that this decision reflects the university’s commitment to assist students who may be having difficulty meeting tuition deadlines due to financial issues.
“This initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on students,” the statement indicated.
The SRC also expressed appreciation to the university management for recognizing the challenges faced by students and for adjusting policies to better support them.

Despite this relief, the SRC has urged students to make every effort to pay their fees on time whenever possible.
“We encourage all students to do their best to settle their fees promptly to avoid any academic inconveniences,” the SRC advised.
The council highlighted that timely fee payment is essential for the smooth operation of the university’s academic and administrative functions.

The fee reduction policy is anticipated to provide significant relief, especially for students experiencing financial hardships. Many students have welcomed this change, stating that it will give them greater flexibility in managing their tuition fees with academic responsibilities.
