A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as the lifeless body of 22-year-old Joana Deladem Yabani, a final-year Biological Sciences student, was discovered near the university’s Disability and Rehabilitation Centre.
University Confirms the Incident
In an official statement, KNUST confirmed the discovery of the deceased and expressed its condolences to her family. The university revealed that Joana’s body was found around 5:00 a.m. and was immediately transported to the University Health Services, where doctors confirmed her passing.
“The deceased was later identified as Miss Joana Deladem Yabani, a fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. The University has officially informed her family, and we extend our deepest condolences to them during this difficult time,” the statement read.
Full Investigation Launched
The circumstances surrounding Joana’s untimely death remain unclear. In response, KNUST authorities, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the university’s Internal Security, and the University Health Services, have launched a full-scale investigation.
According to KNUST’s Deputy Registrar, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, the university is committed to uncovering the truth behind the incident.
“A comprehensive investigation is underway in collaboration with the CID, KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services to determine the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident. We assure the university community and the public of our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of all students and staff,” Dr. Bekoe stated.
