Background

In a correspondence dated April 10, 2024, the Forum for Public Sector Associations and Unions served notice of its intention to proceed with a nationwide strike from May 2, 2024, if pension implementation issues are not resolved by April 30, 2024.

NLC Intervention

In exercising its powers under section 139 of the Labour Act, (2003), Act 651, the National Labour Commission has summoned the parties involved to appear before the Commission on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 11:00 am for a hearing of the issues in dispute.

Advisory

The Forum for Public Sector Associations and Unions has been advised by the NLC to refrain from any intended actions and to appear as scheduled for the hearing.

Implications

Way Forward

The scheduled hearing on April 24, 2024, serves as a crucial platform for the parties involved to present their grievances and explore possible solutions. The outcome of the hearing will determine the next steps in addressing the concerns raised by the labour unions.
