Reason for the Change

The decision to make Computing an optional subject stems from challenges observed in the teaching and learning of computing under the new curriculum.

Infrastructure and resource limitations have hindered students from fully benefiting from computing education. This change aims to address these challenges and ensure a more equitable examination structure for all students.

Implications and Agreement

This decision reflects a proactive approach to adapting the examination structure to better meet the needs of students in the modern educational landscape.

What It Means for Students

With the Ghanaian Language now compulsory and Computing as an optional subject, students have the opportunity to tailor their examination choices based on their interests and career aspirations.

This change recognizes the growing importance of digital literacy and computational skills in today’s world and provides students with the flexibility to pursue their educational goals accordingly.

The decision to replace Ghanaian Language with Computing as an optional subject in the 2024 BECE marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the examination structure.

It reflects a commitment to ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for the challenges and opportunities of the future. As preparations for the upcoming examinations continue, stakeholders are encouraged to stay informed and adapt to these changes accordingly.
