Quiz Competitions

Over three days, students from various school sections competed in rigorous quiz competitions, with Section Red emerging victorious in both the Lower Primary and Upper Primary categories. At the same time, Section Green claimed victory in the Junior High School level quiz.

Debate Competition

However, it was the highly anticipated Debate Competition on the final day that stole the spotlight. Following an intense semi-final round, Section Red and Section Yellow emerged as finalists, setting the stage for a compelling showdown.

The debate, centred on the motion “Students should be allowed to use Mobile phones in Schools,” saw Section Red passionately advocating for the motion, while Section Yellow vehemently opposed it.

In a display of eloquence, critical thinking, and persuasive argumentation, the “Yellowcians” team, led by principal speaker Patricia Ashalley and supported by Mathar Sebugah and Hajia, delivered a stellar performance that captivated the audience and impressed the judges. Their victory was a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and intellectual prowess.

Headteacher’s Remarks

Addressing the gathering at the closing ceremony, Mr. William Dortso, the headteacher of Ave Maria Anglican Basic School, commended the students for their outstanding performances and underscored the importance of such academic activities in nurturing well-rounded individuals.

He applauded the efforts of the teachers in preparing the students for the competition and encouraged the students to continue striving for academic excellence.

The inaugural Inter-Sectional Debate Competition showcased the students’ academic excellence and fostered a spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and intellectual engagement. As the curtains closed on this memorable event, it left an indelible mark on the school’s history and set the stage for future academic endeavours.
