The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is an important milestone for students in Ghana, as it marks the end of their Junior High School (JHS) education.
The BECE this year shall be written simultaneously by the scHOOL CANDIDATES AAS WELL AS PRIVATE CANDIDATES.
Preparing for the BECE can be a daunting task, but with the right strategies and support, students can become well-prepared for the examination. This guide provides an overview of the steps students should take to get ready for the BECE in 2023.
Top 10 Important Strategies for Preparing for BECE 2023
The following strategies are expected to help the candidates to prepare adequately for the exams and to be able to pass out successfully.
1. Start early
Don’t wait until the last minute to begin studying for the BECE. It’s important to give yourself enough time to cover all the material and practice for the exam.
Based on the Exam date, which is on August 2023, the candidates are expected to start their studies as early as practically possible.
2. Make a list of topics that need to be studied
It is important to arrange the topics you wanted to study for the BECE in all subject areas. This will help you stay organized and focused as you work your way through the material.
3. Gather past BECE question papers
Past questions are questions asked in the previous years’ BECE which serves as a guide for the candidates to easily identify the areas the questions could be set.
This will help you become familiar with the types of questions that are asked on the exam.
4. Get a study partner
A study partner is someone who is also a candidate and is willing to study together with another candidate towards a successful preparation for the BECE.

Practice Tests are tests conducted to guide and prepare the candidates for the BECE. They are mostly referred to as Mock examinations.

Tracking your progress as a candidate involves keeping records of your performances during the mock exams to guide your learning. It makes the candidate know wherever he or she in progressing in their studies or not.

7. Create a study space
Creating a space during your studies means having a private place for studies devoid of public distractions.
Having a dedicated space for studying will help you stay focused and productive.

It is very important to get enough rest so that you don’t get sick before the examination.
Aim to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night so you can stay alert and focused during the day.
9. Eat healthy meals
It is very important to eat healthy food while learning for your exams. This will help you to be focused and strong enough to study.
Eating nutritious meals will help keep your energy levels up and your mind sharp.
10. Stay organized
It is very important to stay focused on your studies and not be panicking due to fear.
Have enough time for fun games. Create a filing system or use a planner to keep track of your study materials and goals.
