EducatinGhana, September 18, Laptop: The founder of Innovative Teachers Union, Stephen Desu has said that the TM1 Laptop being distributed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to teachers is the biggest insult to Ghanain Pre-Tertiary Teachers.
The Founder in a telephone interview with Ellis Ferdinand on Summer 106.9 FM in Accra on September 11, 2021, indicated that the GES and the three major Teachers Uni0ons were not being truthful to teachers on the TM1 Laptop deal.
Stephen was contented with the fact that it was prudent to supply laptops to teachers but cautioned that the cost and quality should be a matter of importance.
Discount
Stephen noted that producing laptops to about 280,000 teachers should be at a discount to the teachers of which teachers should not be extorted to the benefit of a few persons at the GES and the Three Teacher Unions GNAT, NAGRAT and CCT-GH.
Stephen called on all teachers to boycott the laptop project and demand accountability from the GES and the three teacher unions.
Professional Development Allowance
Stephen Desu said the Teachers Professional Development allowance is not a property acquiring allowance and must not be used for the acquisition of laptops.
He indicated using the allowance for the acquisition of laptops amounts to misappropriation.

The Initiative
He further argued that the GES was the owner of the initiative and not the Teacher Unions as being speculated by the three teacher uni9kns.
According to him, the GES wrote a letter on January 29, 2021, saying it shall distribute laptops to teachers, of which they did not say it was teacher unions 9nitiative.
He further indicated that the unions responded to the letter on February 2, 2021, without indicating they were the initiators of the laptop supply for teachers.

KA Technilogies
Stephen said the company KA Technologies has not been in the laptop production business before and could not give reasons for taking the contact without any evidence of their work.
He added, that KA Technologies is just a politically motivated company just like the rlg company by the John Mahama Government.
