Ferdinand | EducationGhana | September 15 | Mfantseman Teachers Commend NTC for Intervention in CPD Fee Issue, Call for Accountability
Teachers in the Mfantseman Municipality have praised the National Teaching Council (NTC) for intervening in the GHC 80 CPD fee controversy and are demanding accountability from Creativa Educational Consult and the Municipal Education Directorate.
Teachers Laud NTC for Protecting Their Welfare
Teachers in the Mfantseman Municipality have expressed profound appreciation to the National Teaching Council (NTC) for its swift intervention in the recent Continuous Professional Development (CPD) controversy. The matter involved the Mfantseman Municipal Education Directorate, where teachers were allegedly compelled to pay GHC 80 for only two CPD points.
According to the teachers, the NTC’s action has restored confidence that the Council is firmly committed to safeguarding the professional dignity and welfare of educators.
Call for Accountability
In a statement signed by the teachers, they called on the NTC to request a formal and public apology from Creativa Educational Consult and the Mfantseman Municipal Education Directorate, stressing that their actions undermined fairness and professionalism.
“For the sake of transparency and accountability, such an apology should be made public and published on the official NTC website,” the statement said.
Teachers believe that this measure will reassure stakeholders of the NTC’s commitment to justice while serving as a deterrent to other service providers and education directorates who may attempt similar practices.
Monitoring of Service Providers
The teachers further urged the NTC to maintain strict supervision over all accredited service providers, with particular attention to Creativa Educational Consult, to ensure the CPD framework is not abused.
“By keeping an eagle eye on the system, the Council will protect teachers from undue financial burdens and strengthen trust in its leadership,” the statement added.
Teachers Encouraged
The statement concluded by commending the NTC for standing on the side of justice, professionalism, and fairness, stressing that educators across the country are encouraged by this decisive action.
