JUST IN:WAEC adopts 12-digit Index Number Format for BECE 2019

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has adopted a 12-digit Index Number format for all registered candidates writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) this year(2019).

According to the Examination Council,the twelve digit (12-digit) index numbers format includes the year of examination,that is 19.

In a letter dated March 25,2019 from WAEC to all stakeholders,candidates were earlier assigned 10-digit index numbers during the registration process.

The 12-digit index number format includes fisrt seven digits as school numbers,next three digits as candidates’ serial numbers and the last two digits for year of examination.

WAEC explains that the new index numbers shallappear on the pre-printed objective answer sheets and attendance registers.

Candidates  shall be required to only deepen the pre-printed digits of their index numbers,center numbers and paper codes on the objective answer sheets.

Meanwhile,candidates are reminded toadd the last twodigits ,thats yar of examination to their index numbers when filling particulars on answer booklets.
