The Ministry of Education has said that the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) was in talks with the Ministry on the possible funding of Colleges of Education.


This came in response to a letter to the Education Minister by the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education, calling on the Ministry to review the feeding grant of trainees or the trainees being to feed themselves starting November 7, 2022.


Speaking in response to the letter being circulated on Social Media, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng indicated on his Facebook page, that ;


”On Princoff’s request for permission to ask students in Colleges of Education to fend for themselves…..”


He further indicated, that “GTEC is working through the MoE to resolve the funding challenge.”


Kwasi Kwarteng said the Ministry of Finance was equally aware of the urgency of the situation and is working very swiftly to resolve all outstanding financial obligations/commitments.


”The public is hereby assured of our commitment to work with all relevant institutions to resolve any disruption within the food supply chain in our Colleges of Education even ahead of the November 7th ultimatum.” He assured.


Background

Principals from Colleges of Education have written to the government to respond to an upward review of the trainees feeding grants or stop the feeding.

The Principals said students shall from November 7, 2022, begin to feed themselves unless the government accepts the offer.
