GES Director-General Dr. Eric Nkansah pledges to sponsor the tertiary education of Akosua Adjei Boateng, an orphaned student from Juaso Senior High Technical School, who excelled in her WASSCE exams with 8As.
In a heartwarming gesture, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, has committed to sponsoring the tertiary education of Akosua Adjei Boateng, a remarkable student from Juaso Senior High Technical School. Akosua, who achieved outstanding 8As in her WASSCE exams, faced financial difficulties that threatened her academic future.
Akosua Adjei Boateng: A Story of Resilience
Akosua, an orphan, emerged as the overall best student in the Technical programme at Juaso Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti region. Despite her academic excellence, she faced significant financial constraints that could have derailed her dream of furthering her education at the tertiary level.
A Timely Intervention
Moved by Akosua’s story, Dr. Eric Nkansah, who hails from Juaso himself, pledged to support her education during the WAEC Distinction Awards held last Wednesday. Following this announcement, Dr. Nkansah invited Akosua, her family, and the Head of Juaso Senior High Technical School to his office to discuss her career aspirations and the next steps in her academic journey.
A Commitment to Education
Dr. Nkansah expressed his belief in Akosua’s potential to excel in her tertiary education. He highlighted that his gesture was not only a personal commitment but also a reflection of his dedication to supporting talented students who face financial challenges. “I am humbled to be a part of Akosua’s journey and confident that she will achieve great things,” Dr. Nkansah stated.
An Inspirational Tale
Akosua’s story serves as an inspiration to many students across Ghana. Her determination to excel despite adversity underscores the importance of providing support to talented students in need. Dr. Nkansah’s pledge to sponsor her education shines as a beacon of hope for other students facing similar challenges, demonstrating that with the right support, they too can overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.
The GES Director-General’s sponsorship of Akosua Adjei Boateng’s tertiary education highlights the profound impact that compassionate leadership can have on the lives of students. It is a reminder that there are still good Samaritans dedicated to nurturing the potential of the next generation. Akosua’s journey from adversity to academic excellence is a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of community support.
