A farmer in Drobo in the Bono region has given to government’s Free Senior High School (SHS) programme, 20,000 tubers of yam to support the government intervention.
A report  by Ghsplash.com has it that a farmer in Drobo in the Gyaman South municipality of the Bono region, has donated 20,000 tubers of yam to support the government’s Free Senior High School (SHS) programme.
The farmer, only identified as Kyere, expressed that since one of the components of the Free SHS programme is free feeding for students, there was the need to stock schools with as much as possible. Kyere added that his gesture was aimed at helping the policy become sustainable since it has been hit with funding problems from inception in 2017.
He added that this is the first of many to come as he plans on doing another donation next year.
“The Free Senior High School programme is a nice initiative by the government, the least we can do is to support it. This is my contribution towards the programme and I promise to give more next year”, Kyere said.
Receiving the donation, Kusi Boadum, the Bono region Free SHS coordinator thanked Kyere and assured him that the yam will be evenly distributed to the various schools.
