EducationGhana| July 10|2022 COLA STRIKE: It is stupid to ask for a pay rise – Nana Yeboah to Teachers
Ghanaian Actor Nana Yeboah has insulted the integrity of Ghan aian Teachers over their strike for a Cost of Living Allowance.
The actor, who is known for his high level of insults in movies, has described the decision to strike over COLA as stupid and senseless.
He said teachers in Ghana do not know how to teach well but are requesting COLA, which he described as a pay rise.
The comic actor, who made this comment in a video in his native Twi Language, has called on the government to sack all teachers and employ new teachers into the service.
He also indicated that teachers were paid during the COVID-19 lock down hence must teach to supplement the loss.
Background
Four teacher unions, TEWU, CCT-GH, NAGRAT and GNAT declared strikes following their request for a 20%Â COLAÂ from the government which had not been honoured.
Academic activities at the basic level have ceased since Monday, July 4, 2022, following the declaration of the strike.
Meanwhile, some teachers are kicking against the demand for the 20% COLA, saying it is a regressive call to waste.
