YEA partners with the Ghana Police Service to recruit 12,000 youth as Community Police Assistants, boosting employment and enhancing local security efforts nationwide.

To address youth unemployment and strengthen local security, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Police Service to recruit 12,000 young people as Community Police Assistants.

The MoU was signed during a high-level ceremony at the Ministry of the Interior, witnessed by the Minister for the Interior and the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment.

A Twofold Impact: Jobs and Safety

The initiative aims to provide sustainable job opportunities for the youth across all 16 regions of Ghana and enhance community policing and public safety. By integrating young people into the police service as assistants, the program seeks to build trust, improve intelligence gathering, and deter crime at the grassroots level.

Speaking at the event, YEA officials described the programme as “a win-win for national development—boosting the economy through job creation while improving the quality of policing.”

Recruitment for the Community Police Assistants will begin soon, with details to be announced by YEA and the Ghana Police Service.
