All Students and Staff Evacuated Safely

A school bus transporting students of Wesley Grammar School caught fire at the Kasoa Tollbooth on Friday, November 28. Despite the severity of the incident, all 83 students and five teachers on board managed to escape without injury.

Witnesses reported that the bus was engulfed quickly, leaving little time for evacuation. The teachers acted swiftly, guiding the students out before the flames spread through the vehicle.

Students Were Headed for a Sporting Event

Sports Teacher Richard Boafo, who accompanied the students, said the group was travelling to Ngleshie Amanfro Senior High School for a scheduled sporting activity when smoke was first detected.

According to him, the team took immediate action. “We noticed smoke coming out of the bus, so we asked all the students to move out immediately. Fortunately, all 83 students and five teachers on board escaped safely, but the bus was completely burnt to ashes,” he told Citi News.

Bus Destroyed but No Casualties Recorded

By the time emergency support arrived, the bus had been consumed by fire. The cause of the incident is yet to be established, though preliminary accounts suggest a possible electrical fault.

School authorities are expected to issue an official statement as investigations continue.

Community Relief Amid Destruction

Parents, teachers, and the Wesley Grammar School community have expressed relief that no lives were lost in the incident. The quick response by staff is being widely commended for preventing what could have been a major tragedy.
