The Keta Municipal Education Directorate has issued an urgent directive requiring reposted teachers to return to their previous schools by September 24, 2024. Discover how this impacts teachers and what actions must be taken immediately.

The Municipal Education Directorate of the Keta Municipal Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a directive mandating all teachers who were reposted within the municipality to return to their previous schools with immediate effect.

In a letter dated September 20, 2024, signed by Gerhard Kwasi Avudzivi, the Director of Education at the municipality, the affected teachers have been given a deadline of Tuesday, September 24, 2024, to comply with the directive. The letter further instructed that the headteachers of the schools to which the teachers are returning must notify the Directorate in writing, specifying the date the teachers reported and resumed duty at the schools.

The directive is part of measures aimed at addressing reposting concerns within the municipality. However, the letter clarified that the exercise does not apply to teachers who personally requested reposting or those who were transferred into the municipality through interregional or interdistrict postings.

This decision follows correspondence from the office of the Director General of the Ghana Education Service, signaling the GES’s intent to streamline the posting and reposting processes to ensure proper allocation of teaching staff within the municipality.

The affected teachers are urged to comply with the directive within the stipulated time to avoid any disruptions to academic activities and ensure smooth operations within the schools.
