Teachers in Ghana are set to receive the Continuous Professional Development Allowance (CPDA) of GHC 2400 in September 2024, with the Complementary Instruction Digital Support Allowance (CIDSA) of GHC 800 scheduled for November 2024. Both allowances will be merged and paid in November 2025, with professional teachers facing deductions for licensure renewal and CPD workshops.

Teachers across Ghana can expect the payment of two key allowances in 2024: the Continuous Professional Development Allowance (CPDA) and the Complementary Instruction Digital Support Allowance (CIDSA). These allowances enhance teachers’ professional growth and provide digital support for instructional delivery.

    CPDA Payments Schedule

According to the latest update, the CPDA, which amounts to GHC 2400, will be paid to professional teachers in September 2024. This payment is part of the government’s commitment to invest in teacher development and professional advancement. However, certain deductions will be made from this allowance.

A GHC 100 annual licensure fee for the renewal of teachers’ licenses and a GHC 200 fee for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) workshops will be deducted by the National Teaching Council (NTC).

The CPDA for non-professional teachers will be lower, with a payment of GHC 800 due in November 2024. These non-professional teachers will not face the same level of deductions as their professional counterparts, but deductions related to CPD are still applicable.

    CIDSA Payments Schedule

In addition to the CPDA, the CIDSA payment of GHC 800, aimed at enhancing teachers’ digital capabilities, will also be made in November 2024. This allowance is part of the government’s effort to encourage technology integration in teaching and learning environments.

However, an important update for teachers to note is that both the CPDA and CIDSA allowances will be merged into a single payment in November 2025. This consolidation is expected to streamline the payment process and ensure that teachers receive all necessary support promptly.
