 UPSA awards an honorary doctorate to former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings for her decades-long leadership in women’s empowerment, political participation, and national development.

Honouring a Decades-Long Legacy

UPSA has conferred an honorary doctorate on Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, recognising her remarkable influence on women’s rights and national development. She was represented at the ceremony by her daughter, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings.The award acknowledges her long-standing position as one of the most influential female leaders in Ghana’s contemporary history.

Leadership of the 31st December Women’s Movement

Nana Konadu is widely known for founding and leading the 31st December Women’s Movement, a groundbreaking organisation that transformed the lives of women across the country. The Movement launched schools, built early childhood centres, supported vocational training, and expanded opportunities for women in rural communities.Her work provided a model for community empowerment and became a reference point in discussions on gender development in Africa.
