The University of Education, Winneba announces the withdrawal of Level 100 students due to failure to meet CGPA requirements and course completion. Affected students are ineligible for Level 200 courses. Learn more about the impact and the University’s academic standards.

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has officially withdrawn a list of Level 100 students from the institution, effective immediately. This decision comes after the students failed to meet the minimum CGPA requirement of 1.0 and/or failed to pass the allowed number of courses after resits, as outlined in the Revised Undergraduate Students Handbook (2019).

This action follows a thorough audit of the First and Second Semester Examinations results for the 2023/2024 Academic Year, and the affected students were given counseling before their withdrawal, ensuring fair treatment.

Reasons for Withdrawal of Level 100 Students at UEW

As stated in the memo from the Department of Social Studies Education (DSSE), the students in question have been withdrawn from the University due to their inability to maintain the CGPA or their repeated failure to pass courses, even after being offered the chance to resit.

These students are now considered ineligible to attend Level 200 lectures or take part in Mid-Semester and End-of-Semester Examinations for Level 200 courses.

The decision was made after reviewing the academic performance of the students and ensuring that all procedures were followed in accordance with University policies.

What Does This Mean for Affected Students?

The withdrawal means these students will not be able to proceed to Level 200 and must adjust their academic plans accordingly.

They are advised to update their course registrations to reflect the changes in their academic status. This move emphasizes the importance of academic excellence and adherence to the University’s academic standards.

While this may seem like a setback for the affected students, it is crucial to understand that the University of Education, Winneba is focused on ensuring that only students who are ready for higher-level courses progress to the next stage of their education.

What Should Students Do Next?

Students who have been withdrawn should consult with academic counselors to reassess their academic strategies and seek opportunities to reapply once they meet the necessary academic requirements. Counseling services are available to guide them through the process of improving their academic standing.

Students also need to stay engaged in their studies and seek the support they need to meet the University’s standards. Resits, tutoring, and additional resources may be available to help students improve their performance for future success.
