From April 18–20, 2025, the University of Cape Coast Sandwich Students Coalition gathers at Nyaniba Hotel for its Annual Delegates Congress under the theme “The graduate teacher, an indispensable asset in Nation building,” featuring centre‑president reports, constitution review, and new officer elections.
The University of Cape Coast (UCC) Sandwich Students Coalition launched its much‑anticipated Annual Delegates Congress on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Nyaniba Hotel in Cape Coast. Over the next three days, more than 40 delegates—representing sandwich learning centres nationwide—will convene to shape the Coalition’s direction and amplify the voice of working students.
Founded in 2010 to advocate for the unique needs of sandwich‑programme students, the Coalition draws its membership from UCC’s evening and weekend degree streams. It has become a vital platform for professional development, peer support, and liaison with university management on issues ranging from academic scheduling to campus facilities.
In his opening remarks, Interim president,Nii Agyei reflected on the Coalition’s milestones: “We began as a small group of evening‑class students seeking better access to resources. Today, we champion policy changes at UCC and beyond.” He urged delegates to approach the congress with diligence and unity.
Centre‑President Reports Highlight Achievements and Challenges
The first sitting saw all centre presidents present detailed reports on local activities. While successes such as expanded library hours and peer‑tutoring programmes were celebrated, delegates also identified ongoing challenges: limited access to lecture recordings, erratic ICT support, and the need for more career‑focused workshops.

Recommendations include clarifying the roles of executive officers, introducing term limits, and formalizing mechanisms for member grievances. Delegates are expected to debate and ratify these changes before the congress concludes on Sunday.
