EducationGhana | January 11 | TM1 Laptop: The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has assured its members of a possible refund of GHȼ44.55 excess deduction by the Controller and Accountant Generals Department (CAGD) for the controversial Teacher Mate (TM) 1 Laptop.

The union at its 6th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference held on the 2nd-7th January 2022 made this decision as part of conference resolutions held at the KNUST Great Hall, Kumasi.
GNAT is to ensure that the right documents for teaching and learning are uploaded or installed on the laptop for teachers.

About the deductions
Teachers and other staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES) were been hit with some controversial deductions in the month of November.
Reports reaching EducationGhana indicates, that the controversial deductions include, GH¢100 National Teaching Council (NTC) deductions for Teacher License as well as GH¢ 509.55 Teacher Laptop deductions.
There have been allegations of an NTC License Renewal Tax which was deducted on a license that has not been renewed yet.
This has led to about GH¢200.00 increase in the tax being paid by the teachers.
