EducationGhana, July 10, GNAT: President Akuffo Addo has said that the teaching profession is not meant to make teachers millionaires but to make their contributions to the welfare of the country.
President Akuffo Addo made this statement on Friday, July 9, 2021, when the leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) called on him in the Jubilee House to discuss preparations towards the Association’s 90th Anniversary Celebration.
According to the President, there was nowhere in the world where people go into teaching expecting to become millionaires and make money.

He added, that if teachers want to become millionaires, they need to do other things.
He however indicated that people go into teaching because they want to contribute to the welfare of the country, which he believes teachers in Ghana have shown over the years.
Teachers’ Contributions
He however lauded teachers for their contribution to the development of the country in diverse ways.

He said the effort of teachers in educating the Ghanaian Children was commendable and urged the teachers to do more to help the nation grow.
He also said the nation shall continue to be grateful to teachers for their sacrifices to train the nation’s younger generation.
