Ferdinand | EducationGhana | January 19 | Teacher Trainees Advised to Stay Home Amid CETAG Strike and PRINCOF Notice
Teacher Trainees in Ghana have been advised by TTAG to stay home following PRINCOF’s resumption notice and the ongoing CETAG strike affecting Colleges of Education.
The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has advised all teacher trainees to remain at home following a recent notice issued by the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) and the ongoing strike by the Colleges of Education Teachers’ Association of Ghana (CETAG).
The advisory, issued on January 16, 2026, affects trainees in all public Colleges of Education until the industrial action is officially called off and teaching and learning fully resume.
TTAG Cites Unresolved CETAG Strike
According to the National Secretariat of TTAG, the decision is based on the unresolved nature of the CETAG strike, which continues to disrupt academic activities across Colleges of Education.
The Association assured trainees that its leadership remains actively engaged with relevant authorities and stakeholders to secure a permanent and sustainable resolution to the issues underlying the strike.

Guidance for Level 400 Teacher Trainees
TTAG gave specific guidance to Level 400 teacher trainees currently undertaking their macro-teaching exercise.
The Association explained that it is working closely with PRINCOF and expects that the strike will not affect the approved duration of the teaching practice. However, if the strike extends beyond February 9, 2026, a final decision will be taken in consultation with the appropriate authorities.
Call for Calm and Compliance
All teacher trainees have been urged to remain calm, patient, and compliant with official directives while awaiting further communication from TTAG.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to serving as the collective voice and advocate of teacher trainees until the matter is fully resolved. For official updates, trainees are encouraged to rely on verified communications from TTAG (ttag.org), PRINCOF, and the Ministry of Education (moe.gov.gh).
