President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has redeemed his pledge of GH¢5 million that he made to the University of Ghana Endowment Fund, Vice-Chancellor of the University has said.
President Akufo-Addo, during the launch of the Endowment Fund, promised some GHC 5m to the university to assist it improve upon delivering on its mandate and its expectation of becoming the leading university in teaching and research in the sub-Region.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, in his annual report delivered at the 2019 July Congregation for the graduating class of the University’s Law School expressed gratitude to the President and urged other alumni to follow suit.
“I take this opportunity to express our profound gratitude to His Excellency the Presidentfor this noble gesture, and encourage our guests and members of the graduating class to also commit to support the university in this direction,” he said .
The University of Ghana Endowment fund was launched in 2018 as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the University.
The Fund was launched to augment government’s efforts to assist in the provision of additional facilities and resources to enhance research and teaching.
