An Academic Certificate is the certificate an individual (a teacher0) acquires after completing an academic programme.
For instance, after going through a three-year Diploma or a 4 year Bachelor’s degree in an Education programme, the certificate awarded to the individual in recognition of his or her competition in the programme is known as the Academic Certificate.
Qualification to Teach at the Universities Using Certificates
The minimum qualification to teach at the Universities in Ghana is a Doctor of Philosophy Degree referred to as a PhD
In some cases, the Universities shall allow you to use the Mphil and upgrade to Doctor of Philosophy within a stipulated time. This is because the universities accept only Doctor of Phjlosy Graduates as Minimum entrant qualifications but could consider a Mphil based on other factors necessary to the university.

Qualification to Teach at the Colleges Using Certificates
The Minimum qualification for a teacher at any of the Colleges is a Master of Philosophy Degree (MPhil).
Tutors after employment are allowed to also upgrade to obtain their PhDs within a stipuled time.

Connecting Bachelor Degree to Mphil for Employment into Universities and Colleges
For a prospective teacher to get employed in the Universities or Colleges in Ghana, he or she must connect his or her Bachelor’s Degree Programme to the master’s Degree and Subsequently connect the same programme to the PhD programme studied.
For instance, a prospective teacher must obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Mohil in Mathematics and PhD in Mathematics to be able to teach at Universities and Colleges.
In some cases, if the programme of study is not a direct content-based programme, the rule may not be applied.

For instance, for teachers in the education sector, any Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Education can qualify to link with Master’s Degree Programmes like Curriculum, Methodology, research, administration, (guidance and counselling in some cases) and any other management and or administrative programmes for the masters.
Meanwhile, the Master’s Degree must relate to the Doctorate Degree Programme to be studied.
