GNAT Volta Region announces its 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference in Ho, from 23rd–25th July 2025. Elections for regional executives and female delegates will be held. Nominations open April 23 and close May 21.
Theme Focuses on Policy Makers and Unions in 21st Century African Education
The Volta Regional Branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has officially announced its 7th Quadrennial (54th) Regional Delegates Conference, scheduled to take place from 23rd to 25th July, 2025. The event will be hosted at the GNAT Volta Regional Auditorium in Ho.
The theme for this year’s conference is:
“Educating an African Fit for the 21st Century: The Role of Policy Makers and Unions in Ghana.”
This conference will bring together GNAT members from both the Volta and Oti Regions to deliberate on key education policies, union matters, and leadership decisions affecting the teaching profession in Ghana.

Elections for Regional Executives to Be Held
As part of the conference, the Volta Regional GNAT Election Committee (GNATEC) has announced that elections will be held to elect new executive members for the following key positions:
- Regional Chairman
- Regional Vice Chairman
- Regional Treasurer
- Regional Trustee
- Regional Youth Coordinator
- Regional GNATLAS Coordinator
- Regional Basic School Representative
- Regional SHS/SHTS Representative
- Regional TVET Representative
- Regional Educational Administration Representative
- Regional Representative to National Executive
- Regional Representative to the Teachers Fund Board of Trustees
In addition to the above roles, two Special Female Delegates will also be elected to serve at the National Delegates Conference, as mandated by Article 16(5)(f) of the GNAT Constitution and Rules.
Nomination Opens April 23, Closes May 21
The nomination process officially opens on Wednesday, 23rd April 2025, and closes on Wednesday, 21st May 2025. All interested GNAT members within the Volta and Oti Regions can pick up nomination forms from the GNAT Secretariat-Ho, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on working days.

All completed forms must be submitted on or before the 21st of May, 2025.
GNAT Volta Calls for Inclusive Participation
Speaking on the importance of the conference, Chief K.S. Baba, Regional Secretary for GNAT-Volta, emphasized that this gathering is crucial for shaping the future of education in the region. Similarly, Ms. Attisu Rebecca, Chairperson of GNATEC-Volta, encouraged teachers to actively participate in the election process and leadership decisions.
The Volta Region’s delegates conference is expected to attract educators, union leaders, and policymakers from across the region and is seen as a critical platform to shape both regional and national education policy directions.
