Sunyani SHS secured a convincing victory in Contest 6 of Day 2 of the NSMQ 2025 Preliminary Stage at UCC, defeating Akro SHTS and Tsito SHTS to qualify for the next round.

Contest Overview

The sixth contest of Day 2 of the NSMQ 2025 preliminary stage, held at the Auditorium 900, University of Cape Coast, featured Sunyani SHS, Akro SHTS, and Tsito SHTS. The atmosphere was lively, with fans from the Bono, Eastern, and Volta Regions cheering as their schools battled for a slot in the one-eighth stage.

Round 1: Strong Start by Sunyani SHS

The contest opened with Sunyani SHS taking an early lead, scoring 16 points, followed closely by Akro SHTS with 15 points, and Tsito SHTS with 5 points. The early momentum by Sunyani SHS set the tone for what would become a dominant performance.

Round 2: Maintaining the Lead

By the end of Round 2, Sunyani SHS had extended their advantage to 27 points, while Akro SHTS managed 18 points and Tsito SHTS fell further behind with 4 points. The round was proudly sponsored by @TrusturAI, the official sponsor of the Speed Race segment.

Round 3: Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star

The third round, sponsored by @PruLifeGhana, introduced the “Problem of the Day.” Sunyani SHS displayed remarkable analytical skills, securing 7 out of 10, while Akro SHTS and Tsito SHTS scored 3 and 2 respectively. The Prudential Life Insurance NSMQ Star prize of GH₵2,000 was at stake for a perfect score, though none of the contestants achieved it this round.

Round 4: Securing the Victory

In the final round, sponsored by @GOIL_Official, Sunyani SHS sealed their victory with a confident display of teamwork and accuracy. At the end of Round 4, the scores stood as follows:

Sunyani SHS: 50 points
Akro SHTS: 37 points
Tsito SHTS: 19 points

Their performance earned applause from the audience as they maintained a comfortable lead throughout the contest.

Final Scores

Sunyani SHS: 56 points
Akro SHTS: 40 points
Tsito SHTS: 22 points

With a final score of 56 points, Sunyani SHS emerged victorious and progressed to the one-eighth stage of the #NSMQ2025 competition.

Conclusion

Sunyani SHS’s success in this contest demonstrates their readiness for higher stages of the competition. Their balanced teamwork, quick recall, and composure under pressure set them apart. The school now joins other winners from Day 2, including Awudome SHS, St. Thomas Aquinas SHS, and Aburi Girls’ SHS, in the next stage of the competition.
