The National Council of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) staged a walkout on Deputy Education Minister Professor Kingsley Nyarko over unresolved issues regarding laptops for teachers in the country. The incident occurred on July 22, 2024, at GNAT Village, Abankro Ejisu in the Ashanti Region during the Association’s program.

According to sources, the National Council of GNAT anticipated that Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum would address their long-standing concerns regarding the provision of laptops. However, Dr. Adutwum failed to provide an official statement or appear at the event, prompting GNAT members to express their dissatisfaction by walking out on Professor Kingsley Nyarko.

In a video captured during the event, GNAT National Council members were seen expressing their displeasure by hooting and singing revolutionary songs directed at the Deputy Minister of Education.

This incident highlights the growing frustration among teachers over the unresolved laptop issue and the perceived lack of attention from the Ministry of Education.
