Ferdinand EducationGhana | December 02 |  GES Sets the Records Straight on 2025 WASSCE Results After Public Debate

The Ghana Education Service (GES)  has clarified key issues surrounding the 2025 WASSCE results, dismissing claims by former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei-Adutwum and affirming the integrity of the examinations.

GES Responds to Public Concerns on WASSCE Performance

The Ghana Education Service has issued an official statement addressing the national debate that followed the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination results. The Service outlined key facts to guide public understanding and correct misinformation circulating in the media.

Claims by Former Minister Described as Misleading

In its release, GES rejected assertions made by former Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei-Adutwum, who suggested that the performance of candidates in the 2025 WASSCE was linked to unsupportive management practices within the Service. According to GES, these claims lack merit and should be disregarded. The Service also refuted allegations that teacher allowances had been cancelled. It explained that the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department had already clarified the technical reasons behind the delayed allowances for November.

Management Reaffirms Credibility of the 2025 Results

GES stated that the 2025 WASSCE results reflect the true academic performance of candidates. The outcome, it said, is consistent with the rigorous measures applied before and during the examination period.Ahead of the exams, the Ministry of Education and GES issued a clear directive warning teachers and officials against aiding malpractice. This directive was strictly enforced at all centers.

Strict Supervision Led to a More Credible Examination

The 2025 examination was conducted under tighter invigilation and improved supervision processes nationwide. These actions resulted in the identification of individuals who attempted to engage in malpractice.GES stressed that these outcomes represent Ghana’s broader effort to restore credibility to public examinations and ensure fairness for all candidates.

Preparing for the May/June 2026 International WASSCE

The Service reminded students that Ghana is transitioning from the Ghana-only WASSCE to the international version, which is taken by all West African countries in May and June. Students were urged to prepare thoroughly for this new phase.

Commitment to Integrity and Collaboration

GES reiterated that it will not compromise the integrity of examinations. Management pledged to continue working with schools, teachers, parents, communities, civil society organisations, and WAEC to strengthen teaching, learning, and the credibility of national assessments.
