The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced an urgent directive for the submission of outstanding recruitment documents for the 2024 intake, following Cabinet’s approval to extend financial clearance for unpaid staff.

Cabinet Approves Financial Clearance Extension for 2024 Recruits

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that Cabinet has granted approval for the extension of the 2024 financial clearance, paving the way for the completion of salary mechanisation and payment processes for all newly recruited but unpaid staff.

According to an official circular signed by Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, Acting Director-General of the GES, the extension is to ensure that all affected recruits are fully mechanised and paid by the end of November 2025.

The statement noted that this directive applies to validated staff with Staff IDs who have not yet been paid, as well as those without Staff IDs, including graduates from Colleges of Education, other universities, and non-teaching categories who are awaiting generation of IDs.

Urgent Submission Deadline: October 22, 2025

Management has instructed all Regional and District Directors to compile and submit the required recruitment documents for affected staff to the Human Resource Management and Development (HRMD) Secretariat at the GES Headquarters by Wednesday, 22nd October 2025.

The circular emphasized the urgency of compliance, directing that the process be treated as a priority to avoid further delays in salary payments.

“This directive must be treated as urgent and strictly complied with. Management is counting on your usual cooperation to facilitate a smooth and timely completion of this process,”
the statement read.

Categories of Staff Affected

The directive applies to:

  • Recruited teaching staff from Colleges of Education awaiting mechanisation
  • Graduate teachers from other accredited universities whose salaries are pending
  • Non-teaching staff employed in 2024 but yet to receive Staff IDs or payment

Mechanisation and Payment Expected by November 2025

With the financial clearance now extended, the GES expects all outstanding payments to be completed by the end of November 2025. This development brings relief to several newly recruited teachers and education staff who have been waiting for months for salary validation.

The Ministry of Education and the GES have reiterated their commitment to ensuring prompt resolution of payroll delays, assuring affected staff that mechanisms are in place for transparent verification and processing.
