The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially appointed Daniel Fenyi as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO), replacing Cassandra Twum Ampofo, who served in the role for over six years.

The announcement, confirmed by the GES Headquarters on Thursday, marks a significant shift in the communication leadership of one of Ghana’s most crucial public institutions. Daniel Fenyi is expected to bring fresh energy and professional insight into the public relations architecture of the GES as the service continues to roll out major reforms in Ghana’s pre-tertiary education sector.

A New Chapter in GES Communication

Daniel Fenyi, an educationist, and counsellor, is well known for his in-depth commentary on social life issues.

His appointment comes at a time when the Ministry of Education and the GES are navigating key education challenges, including the rollout of new curricula, TVET reforms, Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) placement policies, and the ongoing implementation of Free SHS.

 Transition from Cassandra Twum Ampofo

Cassandra Twum Ampofo, the outgoing PRO, was widely commended for her diligence and ability to maintain calm and clarity during sensitive periods such as school placement disputes, strike actions, and COVID-19 school reopening debates. Her departure paves the way for a new direction in stakeholder engagement and media communication.

Sources at the GES hint that Madam Ampofo is expected to take on a new role within the education policy space, though official confirmation is pending.

 Who is Daniel Fenyi?

Daniel Fenyi holds a strong background in Educational Psychology and Mass Communication, having served as a teacher, professional counselor, and contributor to major education publications in Ghana.
